Girls Hostel

In 2016-17, Maharashtra State has decided to open 43 EBBs Girls Hostels in the premises of KGBV. Out of 43 EBBs 25 EBBs girls hostel opened at the premises in KGBV.

Objectives:

1. To retain the girl child in secondary school, so that girl students are not denied the opportunity to continue their study due to distance to school, parents financial affordability and other connected societal factors.

2. to make Secondary and Senior Secondary education accessible to a larger number of girls students.

Target Group:

The girl students in the age group of 14-18 yrs. Studying in classes IX and XII belonging to SC, ST, OBC, Minority communities and BPL families will form the target group of the Scheme. Students passing out of KGBV will be given preference in admission in hostels. At least 50% of girls admitted will be from SC, ST, OBC and minority communities.

Progress Overview

·         There are 43 EBBs in the State out of which 7 blocks of Jalna district, construction of Girls hostel buildings are in progress but due to insufficient unit cost, its not completed. In 23 EBBs the work order issued for construction of building and remaining 13 EBB’s tender process is in process.

·         In the Maharashtra State Out of 43 Girls Hostel, 25 girls hostels are opened in the premises of KGBV. There are 505 girls student enrolled in the premises of KGBV. In 18 EBBs girls hostel will be start in next academic year.
